How to Make a “Be Mine” Valentine Banner (Easy & Adorable!)
This sweet “Be Mine” Valentine banner is simple to make, budget-friendly, and perfect for decorating a mantel, wall, classroom, or party table.
Supplies You’ll Need:
- White cardstock or printer paper
- Printed letter pages: B, E, M, I, N, E
- Printed heart centerpiece (conversation-heart style)
- Scissors
- Hole punch (single or standard)
- Optional: tape, glue, or mini clothespins
Step 1: Print the Letters and Heart
Print each letter on its own page so they’re bold and easy to read from a distance.

Tip: Cardstock makes the banner sturdier, but regular paper works just fine for a lightweight garland.
Step 2: Cut Everything Out
Carefully cut around:
- Each letter square
- The heart shape
You can cut the letters as clean squares or add a little white border around them for a softer, handmade look.
Step 3: Punch Holes
Use a hole punch to make two holes at the top of each letter and the heart.
- Keep holes evenly spaced
- Punch about ½ inch from the top edge
- Make sure all holes line up so the banner hangs straight
Step 4: Arrange the Layout
Lay everything out on the floor or table before stringing:
B – E – ♥ – M – I – N – E
Place the heart right in the center to balance the banner visually.
Step 5: String the Banner
Thread your twine or yarn through the holes from left to right.
- Leave a little space between each letter
- Gently curve the string so the banner drapes naturally
- Leave extra string on both ends for hanging
Step 6: Hang & Adjust
Hang your banner using tape, hooks, or nails.
Stand back and adjust spacing so:
- Letters hang evenly
- The heart sits slightly lower for a cute focal point
- The banner has a gentle swag, not pulled too tight
